Surfing The Net

I spend most of my time sat in front of my PC surfing the internet and chatting.  My most visited web site is www.outintheuk.com, which is a gay community that organises events and hosts a notice board where some steamy arguments sometimes start, amongst other things.

OUT OUT

Distributed Processing

For the last few years, I have devoted my spare CPU cycles to a project called SETI@home. This project analyses radio signals received from outer space hoping to find intelligent life.  Over time, the project has evolved and the software (known as BOINC) now allows other projects to be worked on in parallel.  In addition to SETI, I am also crunching data for Climateprediction.net. This is analysing meteorological data in an attempt to forecast the attempts of global warming.

Star Trek

I think that my biggest passion away from the computer is Star Trek.  I am a member of the local Star Trek club and attend their meetings regularly.  I also maintain their website (www.ussranger.co.uk).

Keyboard

I have been trying to learn the keyboard on and off for a few years now.  I attend lessons and am gradually getting better and better (though I'm still only at the 'one finger at a time' stage).
